Support Our Advocacy Efforts

MHA’s Advocacy Network has put mental health on the national agenda. Now, we want to make sure those whose lives are affected by the decisions made in Washington and around the country are represented. Your support makes the difference in winning the changes we need.

Together, we speak out and make our voice heard on prevention for all, early identification and intervention for those at risk, access to quality, integrated health care for those who need it with recovery as the goal.

In July 2020, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) made the historic announcement that it had unanimously voted to prevent suicides by designating 9-8-8 as the universal three-digit dialing code for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.*
In July 2022, our efforts finally paid off. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is now available with the universal three-digit code being 9-8-8. Congress has made history and helped mental health crisis services more accessible through the enactment.
